As a very talented artist with a keen appreciation for the interplay of light, color, outdoors, and nature's designs, Richard Lithgow was naturally drawn to the rich colors and symmetry found in wild trout, and his original trout paintings reflect his reverence for the wild. As Richard explains, “I try to paint the textural variations of light and water in the woodland setting. I think I succeed when the interplay of sunlight on a rising trout or the glistening of a fish’s scales underwater are accentuated to capture action transfixed.” Hours of research and keen observation along with an occasional cast upstream precede each work.
